This is a BIG one
Wow! Super cool stuff! A wonderful article on the release! Thanx @zef ! You are THE man!
I have already updated and enjoy the new stuff!
Yes it's a 2.11 feature (and also mentioned in the release notes) we have a file tree now
This is both unexpected and unbelievable. Thank you, @zef!
You need to update the docker compose example on Docker. It still contains -SB_USER as a environment variable and it took me 20 minutes to figure out why I didn't get to the setup wizard ![]()
Excellent release as always <3
One thing I noticeded is that the table of content doesn't show up inline in the document, but can be summoned using Navigate: Table of Contents. I suppose this is the expected behavior?
Yes, I disabled it by default because it makes pages a bit jiggly on navigation and honestly I personally find it not super useful. But indeed, you can re-enable it with a single command. And you can now move it wherever you want.
Hi! Installed the flatpak release on fedora 44 and... it seems that indexation is gone ?
there is zero results in the search view :
zero query result :
(the rectangle was, before the update, a list of recent pages)
And, as you can see on the screenshots, icons are gone for me.
I also notice big visual issues (when I wanted to copy the errors from developper tools, everything gone white)
Silversearch works as usual.
Errors (it mentions a lot of a time "sauve.md", which is a page I created to see what's works and what's does not work, and which seems to be a problem) :

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you can fix this ! (i use silverbullet heavily for my studies, i love it, and the new update seems fantastic. can't wait to really test it)
Have a good weekend

Can you try to run the βspace: reindexβ command?
And when you load it incognito mode? Iβm wondering if there could be some cache issue. Are you behind a CDN?
well... you are the best. just cleared the cache and everything is working as usual. thank you !!!
i am taking advantage of this message to express few remarks
In your article, you say that you want silverbullet to be "slightly more interesting to the mainstream". I think that adding native full-text search would be perfect for going in that direction.
I also have two remarks on the ui-side of things. The new "views" system is awesome. But i think it would benefit from a minor tweak: moving, for instance, the TOC on the left sidebar should not move the body of the text, but on the contrary should take advantage of the empty space (the margins) on both sides of the notes.
Second idea (but i may be difficult with the multiples platforms silverbullet+ is working with) : integrate the minimize/maximize/close buttons in the header bar of silverbullet. We could then do away with the grey bar at the top of the application, which doesn't serve much purpose (the name of the space used could be written, for example, in the left of the app header, with a monospace font of course ;).
just ideas and thoughts, but thank you again for your help and for your app
SilverBullet 2.11 is now also available via PikaPods. This is a super smooth (and affordable, starting at ~$2/month) way to deploy SilverBullet in the cloud. Just a few clicks and you have a multi-user, as many spaces as you want deployment ready to go. Love it.
Disclaimer: part of the Pikapods proceeds make it back to the authors of the project they deploy (me in this case).
2.11.1
- Fix (Windows): Git operations for revision history no longer open a terminal window and steal focus.
- Fix: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files in a space open directly again, restoring print preview libraries that serve generated HTML from
/.fs/. - Fix: X-Ray and lint tooltips remain readable when dark mode follows the system setting, including when that setting changes while SilverBullet is open.
- Git connection checks now allow more time for large repositories and detect an existing remote's default branch when a new space connects.
identity.mentions(recipient, options)exposes the Mention Inbox data to Space Lua and the CLI.- More non-Markdown documents can now be edited (with syntax highlighting in case of source code) in the editor. Media can also be played now: audio, video, and PDF documents open in native in-editor viewers. Do not ask for fancy editing features, SB shall not devolve in to a general purpose code editor! (famous last words)
- Files and folders can be dragged onto the file tree to upload them.
- Fix: focus page picker and other inputs automatically on mobile devices with external keyboard
There is no stable SB+ release associated with this one, since we're going through an Electron transition there. You can try the edge builds if you want to try SB+ with these changes Download β SilverBullet+ (scroll to the bottom)
The collaborative revision system and navigation bar finally made me migrate from Joplin + Wiki.JS. Wonderful work! Hope the navigation bar can include different sorting options in the future and there's an option to make automatic titles from the body like Joplin/Evernote etc do
I absolutely I love the dockable views!
About the Obsidian compatibility "fix" ... could we have that behind an option so it can be disabled? I actually dislike it a lot. If I typed [[Foo]] I expected the link to go to /Foo or to create it if missing, not to take me to some /Bar/Foo that might or not be related. I don't mind if it defaults to on so obsidianers are still happy, as long as it can be reverted back to the more sane behavior of being based on files.
Also, is there going to be a simple migration path to multi-space (e.g., a command or an sb migrate or something?) or is the most we can expect the manual "create a new space, go through setup, copy back your data" when 3.0 comes?
