Often when I Google for documentation on Silverbullet the first official pages lead to pages that are totally blank. For example, the top two results for the Google search query “Silverbullet template”:
I tested these in Chrome & Firefox; default & incognito. If these are not blank for others, that’d surpise me.
If they are blank for all, maybe the author should make sure the pages are deleted from the Silverbullet file system and reindex the site by Google.
i suppose it is because online mode was removed in version 2 and pages have to be downloaded into your browsers local storage? that’s what it looks like at least. it indeed looks like broken for outside visitors
Your most probable answer is that the pages you are finding are part of the documentation for v1. In SilverBullet v2: The Path Forward, @zef explained that the URLs for the v1 documentation have changed. The search engine crawlers simply haven’t caught on. Just prefix the URL with v1. For example
The search engine crawlers simply haven’t caught on.
@zef could request Google search to reindex to remove these broken links.
If the pages are indexed erroneously, they can also be excluded from indexing.
I’ll look into requesting reindexing. Didn’t realize that was still a think in 2025. Those pages have indeed been removed. They’re empty because this is SB’s default behavior for “new pages” which makes more sense in your local space than on a read-only website I suppose.
