Feeling lost in my notes

I’ve used SB for a few years now. Prior to SB I’ve used Obsidian, Foam, Bear, and probably a few more.

I love SB for the ability to quickly add a note and to find a note (including via Silversearch).

But I’ve found myself missing a few things

  • Putting notes in a structure. I don’t like MOCs. I like the concept of a tree like trilium where a note can exist in several places, haven’t tried it though.
  • Some functionality regarding journals, e.g. flick through entries, easily see and access journal tags

Would you recommend trying to find peace, and workflows with SB, or trying out a different tool?

Have a look at this for viewing journal entries

You can have folders in SilverBullet, and MrRed’s document explorer can then help you navigate those folders, but I don’t think there’s any way currently to have a file in multiple locations…

But since these are ultimately just files on a computer, I wonder if you could write a plugin to setup symlinks for you

I like silverbullet for data portability and simplicity and modern looks. I dislike that it does not aid me in writing organized content such as a wiki, book or journal. If I create a note for a wiki I need to remember to add it to the wiki. I have no easy way to browse my journal.

I like trilium for hierarchy and rich features such as calendar views. I dislike that it looks a bit unpolished and that the data is not very portable and that it has many features I don't need (e.g. note sharing, password protection).

I'm switching to trilium. I hope I will come back in the future if the features I'm looking for become part of silverbullet or plugins.

Silverbullet has been one of my favorite pieces of software and I am very impressed by how cohesive and solid the product feels. I'm just missing a few features that I feel I can't be without. Thanks!
