I'm looking for guides, how to handle attachments on the long run in Silverbullet. My workflow actually is to put new pages in an Inbox Folder, attach picture/screenshots to the page and later move the page either to a journal folder or more specific folder (with the attachment).
Due to the fact that I have over the years generated about X.000 Notes and several hundert attachments in Obsidian, I'm wondering how to keep that workflow in Silverbullet. The idea to put all attachments in "one folder" over the years is not very appealing, e.g. when I want to reuse a picture in another page.
From the documentation I understand, that Silverbullet stores by default an attachment in the same folder as the page. But that would mean, never ever move your pages after creation, otherwise you will cause chaos on the disk.
Because of the way SilverBullet works, I do place all attachments a single folder. I'm careful when I import an attachment to name it appropriately upon import so I can easily find it again if I want to use it. Given the app's capabilities, I can't think of any other workflow that would work better than this.
I do not understand, if you link your doc like this ![[stuff.png|1500]] and if you move your attached file, link will be renamed as well following the new path.
Just retested on edge --> Correct
If your concern is to search through the vault, edge has just put a really cool new tool for searching over docs, pages and meta informations... maybe this can do the job as long as you have basic information about your docs.
I'm usually linking attachement in folder of the "main" note it is attached... as I copy paste/slide directly into the note....
Thanks, but moving the page after adding an attachments, moves the page but not the attachments, correct? So, working with an Inbox-Concept leaves all attachments in the Inbox
Correct.
I manually rename (=move when doing this inside SB) attached docs....
Should I had to move hundreds (thousands ?) of docs at once I would consider doing it out of SB and hope an alorithmic approach (name, path, filter, regex...) would do the job for notes and attachements.
That's sustainable for the moment and prefer keeping my attachements "close" to my notes although the one folder is an attractive solution.
Just retested and indeed attachment are moved correctly (not latest version of edge)
your are right there : Renaming pages is not updating links in version 2.10 - #6 by Coffeemug13
