The First SilverBullet User Survey: Please Help!

As you know (I hope), SilverBullet is privacy focused and contains no trackers and collects no telemetry. As a result, we do not know anything about who you are, and what you use SilverBullet for.

To keep improving SilverBullet and understand what its niche is (and to double down on it), it is extremely helpful to learn a bit about you — the user, and your use cases. This survey helps a lot understanding that.

Filling it in should only take a few minutes. Thanks a lot!

@zef, On the “What features do you care about, and how much? Select the features you care about, and order them in order of priority.” I was unable to “Next” without selecting all items or it resulted with “Please rank all items before submitting.” I ran into no other challenges. Good survey.

Obviously you have to appreciate all features  This is weird, I don’t know how to fix or change it. Perhaps it’s a bug in the survey tool…

Never had the opportunity to say it before but Thanks for making Silverbullet.
I’ve tried many similar tools (logseq, obsidian, …). This is the only one that bring satisfaction (easy to lunch and take note, readability, self hosted, possibility to share vie readonly, distraction free,…)
Big thanks to you your job and all active people in this community.

I’ll just throw it out there that I wouldn’t mind some opt-in telemetry on SB.

On the contrary, I’d love the opportunity to surface more of my use cases to the core team.

No. This sounds horrible. I will stop using SilverBullet if there’s anything remotely close to telemetry or AI or any of that crap. Even if it’s opt in.

Reading Zef’s alt management posts and his philosophy is the reason I’m here.

You can take your telemetry to somewhere else.

Due to the telemetry abuse and lack of transparency of companies, looking at my Samsung TV, folks are, rightfully, anti-telemetry. I am in the no telemetry camp, personally. It is not a condemnation of Zef or SilverBullet.

I don’t think we need to take a moral stance on telemetry or not. Fact is that it’s not there now, and I think it fits a product that is quite “me and my space” privacy focused. No need to be afraid of abuse of such things this way. Also good for me to some degree so I don’t need to be afraid that I’m collecting information I shouldn’t, nor do I need to maintain infrastructure for it, or install some sort of cookie banner, privacy policy etc. etc.
