[POLL] For HTTPS guides and how you use Silverbullet

I’m want to make some tutorials/guides explaining how to set up HTTPS for your SilverBullet instance.
Since the correct guide depends heavily on how you run and access SilverBullet, I’d like to ask a few quick questions so I can prioritise the most relevant scenarios.

Do you even need these HTTPS tutorials?

  • I don’t need the tutorials; my current setup works perfectly.
  • I can set everything up on my own, thank you very much.
  • What is HTTPS and why would I need it? HTTPS… what?

How do you run your SilverBullet instance?

  • I use docker and run only silverbullet in it.
  • I use docker and run silverbullet alongside other containers.
  • I run it directly on bare-metal hardware (Raspberry Pi, Linux machine, etc.).
  • I run silverbullet inside Proxmox, usually together with other services in LXC containers.
  • I use Pikapods or another VPS provider to host my instance.
  • None of the above (I’ll write my setup in the comments).

How do you use or want to use SilverBullet?

  • I want to use SilverBullet only within my local network.
  • I want to access it from outside my local network as well.
  • I want to share my SilverBullet publicly, for example as a blog or website.
  • None of the above (see comments).

Do you have your own domain?

  • I have my own domain / I’m willing to buy one for serving SilverBullet.
  • I don’t have a domain and want free options, such as using *.duckdns.org, *.ipv64.net, etc.
  • I’m not sure what a domain is or why I would need one.

Is your internet connection using a static or dynamic IP address?

  • Static IP (my public IP stays the same, even after router restarts).
  • Dynamic IP (my public IP changes when my router reconnects).
  • I have no idea what you are talking about; How can i check?

Here is my Guide for:

And here is the second part, if you want to access your silverbullet instance from outside your home network, without punching holes through your router. Easy setup using Twingate (free).

I use it local and access via vpn.

@Mr.Red, your first poll “Do you even need these HTTPS tutorials?” does not have an affirmative or yes option.

Haha  you got it right, the first qiestion was a trick question :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah. Too funny.
